The SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) requires all companies, foreign and domestic, which are publicly traded in the US to file registration statements, periodic reports, and other forms. These filings are made through the EDGAR system.

Some important filings which companies must make are:

• Annual reports
• Quarterly reports
  • Balance sheet information
  • Earnings
• Report Insider trades (this is the legal type of insider trading where trading is publicly disclosed through the SEC)
